Home Decor Hop Day 2

Hello crafty friends! Welcome to Day One of Cicly's Home Decor and More Blog Hop! If you came from the über talented Esther's blog, then you are on the right track. If you just happened to be visiting today, then you'll want to start at Cicly's blog so you don't miss out on all of the goodies:-)

The project I made for today is a set of stenciled Halloween pillows.

I cut one 15" circle out of a terra cotta colored linen and a 17" square out of a taupe colored linen. I used a sheet of stenciling plastic, purchased at a local craft store, and cut out the images on my Cricut using the Pumpkin Carvings cart. The settings to cut the stencil are found in Above Rubies Studio Cricut Cutting Guide. I highly recommend this booklet if you like using your Cricut to cut more than just card stock. I carefully centered and taped (painter's tape) the stencil to the fabric. For the jack o lantern, I used Martha Stewart Crafts Black Satin acrylic craft paint. For the "Happy Haunting" stencil, I used Martha's Onyx Glitter acrylic craft paint. I picked out a fabric for the backing and sewed the fronts and backs, wrong sides together, leaving an opening for the pillow forms. I attached a small piece of wide green grosgrain ribbon to the top of the round pillow for extra interest.

Home Decor Hop Day 1

Hello crafty friends! Welcome to Day One of Cicly's Home Decor and More Blog Hop! If you came from the über talented Esther's blog, then you are on the right track. If you just happened to be visiting today, then you'll want to start at Cicly's blog so you don't miss out on all of the goodies:-)

My project for today is Disney Vinyl Bath Decor! Other than the Mickey shower curtain, my boys bathroom seemed void of decor. One of the most fabulous things you can accomplish by utilizing Cricut Craft Room with the Imagine is printing multiple colored layers as one. There are a few little tricks involved, but it makes vinyl projects so much nicer and worth the extra effort. I used the Mickey Font cartridge to color and layer my images. In order to color the Mickey and Donald, I used the RGB codes that Samantha from Scrapmaster's Paradise put together. You need to make sure the "do not weld" is marked as well as hiding the contour cuts from the main layer. The trick is making sure the blackout layer is on a different "mat" and that it is the first layer your Imagine cuts. As soon as it's done cutting (I suggest setting the speed to 2) the blackout layer, you stop your machine. If you don't, it will continue cutting out the rest of the layers. I'll be posting a video on my blog to explain in more detail how I accomplished this.

It's time again for Erica's ultra fun 100 cart blog hop! If you're here because you are one of my super awesome loyal followers, then I'm going to redirect you to My Cricut Craft Room because I don't want you to miss out on all of this weekend's goodies:-) If you've come from Heather's blog then you are on the right track!

My first project is a card I made by using the Nifty Fifties cartridge - one of my favorites! I layered the toaster cut from page 37 onto Basic Grey's "Nook & Pantry" cardstock. I embellished the card stock with a strip of felt ric-rac and added the perfect sentiment from Scrappy Moms' "A Pinch an a Dash" set. The tag die is from My Creative Time.

I made these little favors for my friend who is expecting anytime now. Yes, she is having a boy! I used the favor box cut on page 69 from the Life is a Party cartridge and the "B" layer. Tied it up with some PTI (Paper Trey Ink) ribbon and whola - quick and cute party favors!

I also made this self-adhesive note holder by using an 4" x 6" acrylic frame. I will be honest, I had everything put together and couldn't find a 5" x 7" frame, so I had to cut down the "Snow Buddies" patterned paper from reminisce and use a 4" x 6" acrylic frame and a smaller self-adhesive note pad. I used Black Soot Distressed Stickles on the "coal buttons" and stamped the scarf with some snow flakes from Stampin' Up's "Snow Flurries" set. The adorable sentiment is from Pink By Design's "Winter Fun" set which I curved onto my acrylic block before I stamped it:-)

Now for the goodies:-) Please leave a comment on THIS post and let me know what one of your New Years resolutions are for a chance to win these crafting goodies!

Thanks for hopping by:-) Your next stop is the fabulously creative Suzy! If you think you missed someone the hop list is below.

Welcome to my blog:-) This weekend I am participating in My Cricut Craft Room's Recipe & Baking blog hop! If you're here because you are one of my super awesome loyal followers, then I'm going to redirect you to My Cricut Craft Room because I don't want you to miss out on all of this weekend's goodies:-) If you've come from Erica's blog then you are on the hop and on the right track!

My project for today is a recipe binder made using From My Kitchen cartridge. My BFF and I are always emailing recipes back and forth to each other that have been kid and hubby approved. I think both of our children were cut from the same mold - Picky! I got an idea for her Christmas gift this year (shhhhh!) to make a binder that she can print and store her recipes in. I purchased an inexpensive clear cover binder from Walmart (aka budget-concious crafters' store), some clear page protectors (keeps inkjet pages from getting "smudged"), and a ream of Georgia-Pacific white cardstock. For my color inspiration, I used some patterned card stock by American Crafts called Craft Fair. I purchased this awhile back from ScrapbookSteals.com. I made an 8 1/2 x 11 template on my Gypsy and started laying out all of my pages. I put some empty page protectors in between each section so my BFF can simply slip in a recipe she printed off her computer. After inserting these pics, I noticed that I took them before I put the tab dividers on each page. This way she can simply flip to whichever section she's interested in. I picked the tabs up at Walmart, also.

Thanks for checking out my project:-) Make sure you are a follower and then leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite Thanksgiving dish is. I'll be picking one lucky hopper to give this Preserves Cricut Cart to on Monday!

Welcome to the Hello Kitty Blog Hop! If you came from Crafty Homemade then you are on the right track:-) If you are one of my fabulous followers and happened to stop by, you'll want to start at Emily's Blog so you don't miss any of the fabulous projects and goodies:-)

For this home décor project I purchased four 6x6 canvas frames (on sale, of course) and painted the edges purple with a little pearl over that. I cut a 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper and adhered to the canvas with Modge Podge. I used the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge and my Gypsy to size and weld a border for the frame. I used the Hello Kitty Font Cricut Cartridge to cut out the letters and Hello Kitty shapes. The dark purple is Doodlebug purple glitter card stock layered on white or black card stock.

I will be giving away this fantastic pink tool set by Cricut to one lucky follower who leaves a nice comment. PLEASE make sure you include your email address or some way to contact you if you are the winner, also.

I'm doing just one project so everyone can take their time hopping. If you are here on Saturday then you don't need to stop on Sunday. Thanks for hopping by! Your next stop is Jearise.

World Card Making Day Blog Hop

Today is my day to be part of Gill's World Cardmaking Hop. I am so excited to be a part of this. There are so many famous designers on this 5 day hop. If you are one of my fabulous followers checking in today, you surely want to start at Gill's blog so you don't miss out on all of the amazing project ideas and fabulous give-aways:-)

I decided to go ahead and share both cards I made. I couldn't decide which one to post so I'm posting both. I used the Give A Hoot Cricut Cartridge for my first card. I had found the patterned paper somewhere and picked it up thinking I'd use it for a project for my daughter. She loves peace signs! I punched the corners with my new Crop A Dile Corner Chomper. The sentiment comes from Pink By Design's Feelin' Groovy set.

My second card didn't end up as I envisioned (what project ever does?) I was going to put a Cricut Cut tractor on the front with a computer generated sentiment "Happy Harvest", but the tractor just didn't look right to me, so this is what I ended up with. The patterned card stock is from October Afternoon's Campfire stack. Love this stack! The cornstalks are from My Community Cricut Cart. I embossed the little ears of corn with the Tiny Mosaic Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

Now for a little bit of blog hop candy. I'll choose a random commenter after the hop is over for this bit of crafty goodness. Just make sure you are a follower and leave your email or a way to contact you. I'm thinking of adding some yummy Stickles to this group of candy, too - Winner will be able to pick a color!

Don't forget to start back at Gill's blog tomorrow for day 3 of this 5 day hop! Now on to the über fabulous Jenn at Cardstock and Coffee. She has some rockin' projects to share with you!

My Cricut Craft Room 100 Cart Hop

It's time again for Erica's ultra fun 100 cart blog hop! If you're here because you are one of my super awesome loyal followers, then I'm going to redirect you to My Cricut Craft Room because I don't want you to miss out on all of this weekend's goodies:-) If you've come from Tracy's blog then you are on the hop and on the right track!

I used the Summer Celebrations cart for this card. I just love the fun whimsical style of the cake. I embossed some of the "frosting" with the Script Cuttlebug folder and added some Stickles to the flame and pink "frosting". The sentiment comes from Joy's Life You're So Punny set. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up.

This cute little kitty comes from the Chore Chart cart. I adhered a little ric-rac around the circle for added texture and color. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from Stampin Moms Raining Cats & Dogs set.

The third cart I used is Jolly Holidays. I had such a difficult time choosing which image to use. I simply love, love, love this cart! You'll definitely be seeing me use this a lot in the coming months:-) I hid the facial features using my Gypsy then stamped the face using Peach Keen's Paper Doll Basic & embossed it with white EP. The "icing" is white ric-rac. The sentiment is from Scrappy MomsWinter Wishes set.

Thanks for checking out my projects today. Make sure you are a follower and then leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite Cricut cart is - if you own it or not. I'll be picking one lucky hopper to give this pink Cricut tool set to on Monday!

Dog gone Fun! Blog Hop Day 2

Thanks for hopping over to my blog. Today is day two and if you came from Jess's blog then you are on the right trail. If you are a regular follower and stopped by to see what's happening, you may want to start at Haidee's blog so you can find out how to win a new Apple Shuffle!

This weekend is all about Dog Rescue awareness. To see my story about my rescued dogs click HERE. Today I'll be introducing you to my current dog, Emjay. Well, what can I say? He's not your typical West Highland Terrier. He has super fluffy fur and is scared of anything smaller than he is (especially flies). How did I come about his name you ask? Well, Chicago Bulls fan - Michael Jordan - MJ - ergo the phonetic spelling - Emjay.

After losing my first dog, Banco, along with having difficulty becoming pregnant, I decided to get another dog. We ended up buying one from the breeder we had adopted our previous two Westies from.  And then.... a month later.... guess who was pregnant?! That was one busy year!

Emjay

For my project today I made a "Doggie Bag" to put Emjay's toys, food, and leash in when we take him to the kennel. I used the Mickey Font cart for the bone and letters. I first cut a piece of fabric to the approximate size I needed, then I ironed on a piece of Steam and Seam 2 to the back side. I placed the pieces on a very sticky Cricut mat and loaded it into my Expression. I used a regular blade with my depth at 4, my speed at 3, and my pressure at 4. After the images were cut I simply peeled off the backing and ironed it onto my bag (purchased at Hobby Lobby on sale).

Please leave a comment and let me know what types of projects you have made for your pet. Make sure you're a follower also to be eligible for Haidee's hop prize candy:-) Thanks for hopping by! Your next stop is Janet at Lady Luv Bug :-)

Dog Gone Fun! Blog Hop Day 1

Thanks for hopping over to my blog. If you came from Jess's blog then you are on the right trail. If you are a regular follower and checking in, you may want to start at Haidee's blog so you can find out how to win a new Apple Shuffle!

This weekend is all about dog rescue awareness. My family and I have rescued two dogs, both of which have since passed away. Banco, my first rescued Westie, was the love of my life. He was the Omega of all Omega dogs. All he wanted to do was run and play. He was rescued by a State Trooper along with his siblings from a truck, possibly from a puppy mill. The driver had no proof of ownership, as well as, the puppies did not look well cared for. The Trooper confiscated the dogs and brought then to the local Westie rescue society. Banco was very sick and wasn't supposed to survive past a couple of years. We had him for roughly 6 years until he developed liver cirrhosis. Our other Westie, Minnie, was taken back by her breeder because the Dalamation in the family was getting into serious fights with Minnie. The breeder, who we also got Banco from, contacted us about Minnie. She had noticed that Banco and Minnie got along very well when they were boarding with her. She thought Minnie would be better with us.

For today's project I made a double-sided Christmas ornament of Banco and Minnie. I used the scalloped and circle Nestabilities dies to cut out the glittered card stock shapes. I used a 1" circle punch to cut out my dogs faces. I adhered each face to the inside of two flattened crafting bottle caps. The silver twine was adhered in-between the two caps and the die-cut glittered CS. I added self-adhesive rhinestones and a wired-ribbon bow.
