Monday Challenge - Jump In and Cool Off

Happy Monday to all of you:-) This week at Fantabulous Cricut it's all about stayin' cool. I'm extra excited because Canvas Corp is the sponsor this week and they let the DT play with some of their fabulous products! The instant I saw the goodies I knew I wanted to do an altered composition book. I made this for my daughter to use as a "junk journal" on vacations.

To begin altering my book, I adhered the card stock provided by Canvas Corp to the front, back, and inside covers. I then cut a strip of map from an old atlas, distressed it, and adhered it with Modge Podge to the spine. I then had some fun:-) I took the canvas pennants and colored them with Faber-Castell Gelatos. I used a water brush to blend the colors. After the canvas was dried, I stamped a "splatter" image onto each pennant with black Staz-On. I cut the initials using the Storybook cart out of Canvas Corp's self adhesive cork. I punched out the shell images from the Beach Sampler sheet and used my Making Memories metal tag maker. The "subway sign" was also cut from the Beach Sampler sheet and backed with a frame from the Elegant Edges cart. I tore out a few of the inside pages to give the book a little more space to add "stuff". Since the pages are fairly thin, I glued and gessoed pages together through the rest of the book. I began distressing and embellishing some pages but wanted to leave the majority of the pages for her. I gave her a small bag of "extras" for her to use.

Now go have fun and make a "cool" project for this weeks challenge:-) Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day:-)

Theme Day Thursday

Welcome to the first Theme Day Thursday of the year over at My Cricut Craftroom! Today's Theme is Baby Boy! This is one of the two page layouts I made for my son's 8 x 8 First Year scrapbook. I cut the stroller from the Stretch Your Imagination cart at 7" and layered onto K & Company's "Itsy Bitsy Baby Boy" cardstock along with some coordinating solid CS. The number and letters are cut at 2" from the Pooh Font cart. I also used a Martha Stewart border punch, Prima paper flowers, and Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by today! Please make sure you click over to Erica's blog to find the links to the other DT projects. Have a creative day:-)

Merry Christmas

No, I'm not losing it, or maybe I am. It was snowing here this morning. Not sure if mother nature knows it's supposed to be Spring;-) Anyway, I actually was able to get a card done this morning that covers three challenges. Is that cheating? The first thing I thought of was a Christmas tree when I saw the requirements for the Fantabulous Cricut  and Cricut Cartridge Chaos challenges (both Monday challenges). FCCB wants us to use a tree and CCCC is having us use the SYI cart. Then this morning the Cricut Cardz challenge asked us to do a 9 x 4 card. Well, this just all fit together so nicely I couldn't pass it up. Thanks for stopping by. Have a creative day!

Throw Back Thursday Challenge #2

This is for Emma's 2nd Throwback Thurs Challenge. For this challenge we were to use the Stretch Your Imagination cart and use the colors brown, red, and blue. I'm in the phase of using these challenges to get some of my scrapbooking done. I found this perfect paper from My Mind's Eye and remembered the kids had made gingerbread houses a couple of years ago. I'll try and work on the other page later. Need to make the deadline tonight.
