Monday Challenge - Jump In and Cool Off

Happy Monday to all of you:-) This week at Fantabulous Cricut it's all about stayin' cool. I'm extra excited because Canvas Corp is the sponsor this week and they let the DT play with some of their fabulous products! The instant I saw the goodies I knew I wanted to do an altered composition book. I made this for my daughter to use as a "junk journal" on vacations.

To begin altering my book, I adhered the card stock provided by Canvas Corp to the front, back, and inside covers. I then cut a strip of map from an old atlas, distressed it, and adhered it with Modge Podge to the spine. I then had some fun:-) I took the canvas pennants and colored them with Faber-Castell Gelatos. I used a water brush to blend the colors. After the canvas was dried, I stamped a "splatter" image onto each pennant with black Staz-On. I cut the initials using the Storybook cart out of Canvas Corp's self adhesive cork. I punched out the shell images from the Beach Sampler sheet and used my Making Memories metal tag maker. The "subway sign" was also cut from the Beach Sampler sheet and backed with a frame from the Elegant Edges cart. I tore out a few of the inside pages to give the book a little more space to add "stuff". Since the pages are fairly thin, I glued and gessoed pages together through the rest of the book. I began distressing and embellishing some pages but wanted to leave the majority of the pages for her. I gave her a small bag of "extras" for her to use.

Now go have fun and make a "cool" project for this weeks challenge:-) Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day:-)

Altered Comp Book

I'm so happy you are here today! I feel like I'm back in the crafting and blogging saddle. My scrap room is a mess again:-)!! A true sign of a creative genius, right?  Hee Hee - I can always pretend anyway.  Today I have an altered comp book for the Scrapalicious USA challenge. I love working with composition books because they allow for a little more creativity than a card and are not as intimidating as a two-page layout. This book is actually for a blogging friend's daughter who loves softball and the colors green and purple. Gotta love that girl:-)

I used a chipboard monogram from S/U and added Firefly Stickles to it. The card stock is from the The Paper Studio Safari Untamed pack. I stamped and embossed in black, baseballs from S/U's Good Sport set onto green CS. I also some baseball printed ribbon to some shaped paper clips.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day:-)

My First Altered Book

Ah, this weather here in Illinois has been absolutely fabulous! With the nudge of Cori's "Spring Cleaning" series and this warm weather, I got the urge to start going through all of my "stuff". I've been able to organize, donate, and purge a lot of things:-) While I was cleaning in my craft room, I came across my first altered book I did when I was part of a local altered artists group. Since I was so new to this art medium, I started with a small child's board book. Once the gesso was applied, I was hooked. I've forgotten how much fun it is to play with gesso and paints:-) Here are some (not so professional looking) pictures of my book.

I also have an altered cookbook I started somewhere. When I locate it I'll share it with you. Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day:-)
