Wedding Bliss

Today's challenge is to create a project for a special couple for a wedding or anniversary. Please stop by the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog to get all of the details so you can play along.

For my project, I utilized Cricut Craft Room to make two different sized labels from the Accent Essentials Cricut Cart. I sized one label at 5", copied and pasted it, then resized it a little bigger. The couple came from The Good Old Days Imagine cartridge. I printed the main image as well as just the couple so I could "pop" them up for added dimension.

I have a little trick for making coordinating patterned card stock that doesn't come with the cartridge. Find an image with a patterned background you like, separate the layers in CCR, delete all of the images except the patterned one, make it a little larger than the cut you need, then do a Print Only. Reinsert the card stock and do a Cut Only of the image you want. I did this for the bottom layer. The off white layer was embossed using the Sizzix Small Dots Texturz Plate.

I also added some "antiqued" white seam binding and a little tag with the perfect sentiment from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags set. Oh, and yes, can't forget a little Stickles:-)

Home Decor Hop Day 2

The project I made for today is a set of stenciled Halloween pillows.

I cut one 15" circle out of a terra cotta colored linen and a 17" square out of a taupe colored linen. I used a sheet of stenciling plastic, purchased at a local craft store, and cut out the images on my Cricut using the Pumpkin Carvings cart. The settings to cut the stencil are found in Above Rubies Studio Cricut Cutting Guide. I highly recommend this booklet if you like using your Cricut to cut more than just card stock. I carefully centered and taped (painter's tape) the stencil to the fabric. For the jack o lantern, I used Martha Stewart Crafts Black Satin acrylic craft paint. For the "Happy Haunting" stencil, I used Martha's Onyx Glitter acrylic craft paint. I picked out a fabric for the backing and sewed the fronts and backs, wrong sides together, leaving an opening for the pillow forms. I attached a small piece of wide green grosgrain ribbon to the top of the round pillow for extra interest.

Home Decor Hop Day 1

My project for today is Disney Vinyl Bath Decor! Other than the Mickey shower curtain, my boys bathroom seemed void of decor. One of the most fabulous things you can accomplish by utilizing Cricut Craft Room with the Imagine is printing multiple colored layers as one. There are a few little tricks involved, but it makes vinyl projects so much nicer and worth the extra effort. I used the Mickey Font cartridge to color and layer my images. In order to color the Mickey and Donald, I used the RGB codes that Samantha from Scrapmaster's Paradise put together. You need to make sure the "do not weld" is marked as well as hiding the contour cuts from the main layer. The trick is making sure the blackout layer is on a different "mat" and that it is the first layer your Imagine cuts. As soon as it's done cutting (I suggest setting the speed to 2) the blackout layer, you stop your machine. If you don't, it will continue cutting out the rest of the layers. I'll be posting a video on my blog to explain in more detail how I accomplished this.

CHA 2012 Chicago

Well, it has been quite the busy two days so far at CHA. I was fortunate enough to have been asked to accompany my friend and her sister to CHA in Chicago/Rosemont this year. We have been searching and brainstorming ideas for her new stamp line and kits. Of course, it has been very hard to separate personal wants from business practicality. Everyone has been super nice here. Even met a few people -

Things I saw at the show that caught my eye - We R Making Memories Washi tape dispenser and Washi sheets, Faber-Castell Gelatos, Pre-printed stretched canvases from Basic Grey, gorgeous cardstock at Cavas Corp, Tim Holtz's Burlap Panels, Everything at Cosmos Cricket, Heidi Swapp's Color Shine, everything at October Afternoon, Megan Elizabeth's Paper Layerz, and everything at Authentique.

Yummy, Yummy!

Happy Monday everyone! Today is my first post for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Design Team:-) I have to say, I am so tickled to join this group of talented designers. I have been following this blog for awhile and now I'm a part of it!

Today's challenge is to create a project using any type of summer dessert. Please stop by the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog to get all of the details so you can play along.

I welded my card base at 5.25 using the rounded square shape from the Boys Will Be Boys cart and my Gypsy. Then, using my Imagine, I printed the background and shaped images individually. The red is embossed with the Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder and added some Stampin' Up Iridescent Ice to the "frosting" and popped them up. The sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms Sweet Somethings set stamped on a die cut label by My Creative Time. Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to check out FCCB today:-)

Patriotic Birthday

Happy 4th to you my crafty friends and a BIG happy birthday to my precious baby boy! I can't believe he is 2 today:-) So, in honor of my little firecracker, I made this patriotic Elmo birthday card. I admit, I made this very quickly yesterday! I've been so busy getting ready for his party today, I plumb forgot to make his card.

I used three Cuttlebug embossing folders- Candy Cane, D'vine Swirl, and Stars. Elmo is from the Elmo and Friends Holiday Cricut cartridge. I added a little Stickles (of course) to his hat and tied a silver star button with Air Mail twine. I stamped the sentiment on a small piece of white card stock and used my Stampin' Up ticket corner punch.
