My First Altered Book

Ah, this weather here in Illinois has been absolutely fabulous! With the nudge of Cori's "Spring Cleaning" series and this warm weather, I got the urge to start going through all of my "stuff". I've been able to organize, donate, and purge a lot of things:-) While I was cleaning in my craft room, I came across my first altered book I did when I was part of a local altered artists group. Since I was so new to this art medium, I started with a small child's board book. Once the gesso was applied, I was hooked. I've forgotten how much fun it is to play with gesso and paints:-) Here are some (not so professional looking) pictures of my book.

I also have an altered cookbook I started somewhere. When I locate it I'll share it with you. Thanks for stopping by! Have a creative day:-)

BFF Birthday Card

Good Morning creative friends! I have been sooo busy Spring cleaning the last few weeks. I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. I've been finding soooo many UFO's (unfinished objects - although I think their called something else nowadays). I kind of got off of the paper crafting path and have been working on a lot of partially started or bought-and-not-started cross-stitch, sewing, and quilting projects. These don't go as quickly as cards or scrapbooks so I haven't had anything to post:-( No instant gratification either;-)

I did manage to get a card made for my BFF, Janet. I saw a wall art piece somewhere and sketched it on my iPad (used a fabulous app called Penultimate). I made it into this card for her. I also made a table runner. She just loves  sewing and craft projects but is the type of person that does not want to take time to learn or make them. She super appreciates all of the time and hard work that goes into these crafting projects, so I have no problem making things for her that take time.

I used the patterned card stock from Echo Park's Victoria Gardens card stock pad, a 1 1/4" circle punch,  border and tag  punches from Stampin' Up, baker's twine, Papertrey Ink sentiment, K & Co embellishments. I liked how the original artist layered the circles like "fish scales". I thought this was a great way to collage some scrap pieces.

This is the table runner she has been pestering me to make for her. Piecing fabric takes waaaayyy more time than paper;-)

Thanks for stopping by! Off to do some more Spring Cleaning! Have a creative day:-)

Crafters Are The Most Thoughtful People:-)

I was so happy when I opened the mail Monday! A nice chunky envelope from Canada. Inside was the most beautiful mini scrapbook I've seen. It was from the super creative "Auntie Em" aka Emily Thorne of Scrapping Some Memories.  I got all "verklempt" when I read the note she sent with it. Emily had won some blog candy from me sometime back and sent this as a thank you. I was so totally moved by her thoughtfulness I wanted to share her beautiful gift with you. The colors she chose are just perfect ;-)

Make sure you check out her blog. She's a super talented crafter! Thanks for stopping by:-) Have a creative day!

The Official Unofficial First Day of Spring!

I always say that March 1st is the first day of Spring - and this year I had to wait an extra day! Even though it's still cold and snowing here, I've gotten in the mood to do some spring cleaning:-) Okay, I had a little nudge to clean up my craft room (yes, again) because in a few days I need to have some pics ready for Cori's Spring Cleaning Series. Right now I'm focusing on cleaning out and organizing all of my ribbon and fibers. They are in drawers and boxes everywhere! So much so that I decided to sell some and hopefully recoup some of the $ spent on my "impulse" purchases;-) So, if you are looking for some yummy stuff, click on my "Shop" page to what I have available. I'll be adding as I clean out so check back often.
